Voting System
How governance voting works in Spray and Play
Voting System
The Spray and Play DAO will use a token-weighted voting system where SPRAY holders directly influence protocol decisions.
Coming Soon — Voting features are under development. Specifications may change before launch.
How Voting Will Work
Voting Power
Your influence is determined by your SPRAY token balance:
| Factor | Impact |
|---|---|
| Token Balance | 1 SPRAY = 1 vote |
| Snapshot Block | Balance recorded at proposal start |
| Delegation | Can delegate voting power to others |
| Lock Multiplier | Locked tokens may receive boost (TBD) |
Vote Options
Every proposal will have three options:
- FOR — Support the proposal
- AGAINST — Reject the proposal
- ABSTAIN — Participate without taking a side (counts toward quorum)
Proposal Types
Tier 1: Standard Proposals
| Attribute | Specification |
|---|---|
| Threshold | 100,000 SPRAY to submit |
| Quorum | 4% of total supply must vote |
| Pass Requirement | Simple majority (>50% FOR) |
| Voting Period | 3 days |
| Execution Delay | 2 days after passing |
Examples: Parameter changes, fee adjustments, minor upgrades
Tier 2: Major Proposals
| Attribute | Specification |

| Quorum | 10% of total supply must vote |
| Pass Requirement | 66% FOR (supermajority) |
| Voting Period | 7 days |
| Execution Delay | 3 days after passing |
Examples: Treasury allocations, feature additions, major upgrades
Tier 3: Emergency Proposals

| Threshold | 500,000 SPRAY to submit |
| Quorum | 15% of total supply must vote |
| Pass Requirement | 75% FOR |
| Voting Period | 24 hours |
| Execution | Immediate upon passing |
Examples: Security patches, emergency pauses, exploit responses
The Voting Process
Step 1: Discussion (Off-Chain)
Before submitting a formal proposal:
1. Post in Governance Forum with detailed description
2. Gather community feedback for 3-7 days
3. Refine proposal based on input
4. Conduct Snapshot temperature check (optional)
Step 2: Formal Submission
Proposal Structure:
├── Title (clear, under 100 characters)
├── Summary (what it does)
├── Motivation (why it's needed)
├── Specification (technical details)
├── Timeline (when it takes effect)
└── Code Changes (if applicable)Step 3: Voting Period
- Proposal goes live on-chain
- Voting power calculated from snapshot block
- Votes can be changed until period ends
- Real-time results visible to all
Step 4: Execution
- If passed: Automatic execution after timelock
- If failed: Proposal deposit returned (minus gas)
- If quorum not met: Can be resubmitted later
Delegation
Don't have time to research every proposal? Delegate your voting power:
How It Works
- Choose a Delegate — Pick a trusted community member
- Retain Ownership — Tokens never leave your wallet
- Revoke Anytime — Undelegate instantly if needed
- Partial Delegation — Delegate percentage of power
Finding Delegates
Active delegates will be listed in the governance portal with:
- Voting history and participation rate
- Philosophy/values statement
- Areas of expertise
- Contact information
